A Band Called Diminishing Jim
Diminishing Jim is an original rock band from Connecticut. The band has a truly unique
sound, incorporating elements of rock, pop, groove rock, and hard rock. The band's songs
are catchy with three part harmonies, yet raw and energetic. They have been compared to
bands including Foo Fighters, Vertical Horizon, Jimmy Eat World and The Cars.
The band is Ted Petrie (guitar/vocals), Chris Giard (guitar/vocals), Jim Hoefelt
(bass/vocals), and Brendan Johnston (drums). All the band members have been playing in
the local music scene for years in bands including Megahertz, 3-Eyed Fish, and Milo.
The band was formed as a trio in late 2004 including Ted Petrie, Jim Hoefelt, and Brendan
Johnston. In early 2005 the band added second guitar player/singer Bill Stevens, and
within weeks was playing its first gig at Schmedley's Pub in Storrs CT.
After just a single performance, the band was immediately booked at popular Connecticut
clubs including The Corner Pocket in Orange, the multiple shows at the legendary Toad's
Place in New Haven, and more shows at Schmedley's Pub.
In 2008 Chris Giard joined the band, replacing Bill Stevens. The band is actively gigging on
the Connecticut scene showcasing new material while finishing its first full length CD for
release in 2009.
